Mentor. Give. Make a Difference.
Amachi Pittsburgh has a number of ways that you can get involved and make a difference in a young persons life.
“A wise man once said that ‘The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.’ That essentially is what mentoring is. As a mentor, it is your job to ignite the fire of success that is in people. Instead of teaching a child that they can be great, you show them how they already are great and how they can improve their greatness. I believe that is what Amachi does. Rather than healing the broken people, they mentor and help broken people heal and rebuild themselves causing them to be stronger than they ever were.” – D’Angelo, Amachi Pittsburgh Mentee
We provide mentoring for children ages 4-18 who have one or both parents incarcerated. We recruit, train, supervise and support mentors as well as reentry and family reunification.
All it takes is 4 quality hours per month with a promising young person. Are you 18 years or older and willing to commit to spending time with a young person for an hour a week for one year? If you answered yes, please contact Amachi Pittsburgh at 412.281.1288 option 5 or contact Maria Searcy, Outreach Coordinator firstname.lastname@example.org.
We host 2 community events per month for Mentoring pairs and Reentry families at no cost. Volunteer positions are available to assist with registration, set-up for the event, or to be a chaperone.
Please contact us at 412.281.1288 option 1, or at info@AmachiPgh.org to volunteer.
You also have the opportunity to make donations to Amachi Pittsburgh. All donations are tax-deductible and help make a difference. Please contact us at 412.281.1288 or email us at info@AmachiPgh.org for more information on making a donation.
