Programs
School-Based Mentoring — meeting kids where they already are.
Amachi Pittsburgh partners with schools across Allegheny County to bring trained, caring mentors directly into the school day — so students impacted by parental incarceration get the consistent adult support they need, right where they learn.
How it works
Mentoring inside the school day.
- Mentors meet with their mentee weekly during a designated period at the school
- All mentor activities happen on school grounds — no transportation barriers for families
- Amachi staff coordinate directly with school counselors and administrators
- Mentors complete the same training and clearances required for community-based mentoring
- Matches are supported throughout the school year by an Amachi Mentoring Specialist
