Become an Amachi Ambassador.
Young people have the inborn capacity to cope, create opportunities, and transform their communities. Amachi Ambassadors engage, educate, and empower youth to raise awareness about the impact of parental incarceration — and to push for the systems change that affects their lives.
Requirements
- Ages 14–18 (grades 9–12) and directed impacted by familial incarceration, community violence, and/or the social justice system
- Resides in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania
- Demonstrates desire to participate and abide by all Amachi policies
- Able to obtain parent/guardian permission
- Willing to attend ongoing Amachi Ambassador events and communicate regularly with program staff
Cost
The program is FREE — open to any youth who meet our criteria.

Amachi Ambassador applications are submitted through our Youth and Family Intake Form. The Amachi Ambassadors Program Coordinator will follow up with parent/guardian forms and next steps.

Program details
What to expect.
- Workshops, leadership activities, and community-building experiences held throughout the month, including select Saturdays
- Participation stipends, plus complimentary snacks and meals during programming and field experiences
- Bus transportation assistance so youth can fully engage in opportunities offered throughout the week and weekends
- Subject-matter experts, community leaders, and partner organizations join sessions to build leadership skills
- Inclusive, safe space — clear behavior expectations apply at every event
