Become an Amachi Ambassador.
Young people have the inborn capacity to cope, create opportunities, and transform their communities. Amachi Ambassadors engage, educate, and empower youth to raise awareness about the impact of parental incarceration — and to push for the systems change that affects their lives.
Requirements
- Ages 14–18 (grades 9–12) and impacted by parental or caregiver incarceration
- Resides in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania
- Demonstrates desire to participate and abide by all Amachi policies
- Able to obtain parent/guardian permission
- Willing to attend ongoing Amachi Ambassador events and communicate regularly with program staff
Cost
The program is FREE — underwritten by The Heinz Endowments and Three Rivers Community Foundation. Bus tickets and meals are provided.

Amachi Ambassador applications are submitted through our Youth and Family Intake Form. The Amachi Ambassador Coordinator will follow up with parent/guardian forms and next steps.

What to expect.
- Meetings every other Saturday, roughly 10 AM – 1 PM
- Stipend provided for participation; lunch provided on Amachi Ambassador Saturdays
- ConnectCard available if needed to get to and from events
- Subject-matter experts and partners join sessions to build leadership skills
- Inclusive, safe space — clear behavior expectations apply at every event
